1997 was the most glorious year in Borussia Dortmund's history: UEFA Champions League champions in May in Munich—with Riedle's header and Lars Ricken's goal 16 seconds after coming off the bench against Juventus—and world champions in December after defeating Cruzeiro in the Intercontinental Cup in Tokyo. An international double that no other German club has equaled before or since. This commemorative scarf for that achievement was produced at the time and sold in the official BVB store with the original cardboard tag at 25.00 German marks—the currency prior to the euro, which places it unequivocally in 1997 Germany. The reverse side lists the club's historical honors up to that point: the Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, the 1966 Cup Winners' Cup, and the 1997 Champions League, crowned with the motto "We are the Champions of the World." An archival piece in perfectly new, unworn condition, with all its original documentation.
Commemorative scarf for Borussia Dortmund's 1997 international double. New with the original cardboard tag from the BVB store with the price in German marks (25.00 DM). Reverse side features the club's historical honors and the motto "We are the Champions of the World."
