The 2007/08 season is one of the most memorable in the recent history of Club América: the Coapa team participated in the 2007 Copa Sudamericana with a tremendously talented squad that combined the experience of Cuauhtémoc Blanco—a living legend of Mexican soccer—with the explosive goal-scoring ability of Salvador Cabañas, the Paraguayan striker who would become an absolute idol for Americanismo before the tragic night in January 2010 that cut his career short. Guillermo Ochoa, at just 22 years old, was already the starting goalkeeper and was beginning to build the legend that would lead him to become the most important goalkeeper in the history of the Mexican national team. The design from that season is one of the most celebrated in América's historical catalog: the asymmetrical sleeves with eagle feather graphics printed in red on the left arm are a visual identity element that connects directly with the pre-Hispanic symbolism of the club's crest, while the tricolor trim reaffirms the institution's Mexican pride. The long-sleeve version with the simultaneous Bimbo sponsorship on the front and Corona on the back is an unusual configuration that multiplies the piece's collectible interest.
